Ancora piccoli doni dalla natura, more small natural presents

I chose a very thin, ancient Fabriano sheet for these common wild herbs. That's why, I suppose, the composition came out so airy and ethereal, somewhat japanese if I may say so.

Next day I started this colourful detail of bramble leaves in autumn. I am improving on my watercolour skills, tackling Arches fine grain paper that I always found too dry. Now I know that it needs a good soaing before it's stretched. I called this composition " Fall party".
Both are approx A4 format.

Le falesie di Gaeta-The cliffs at Gaeta

Back to Gaeta to pick up the pictures of the exhibition (see two posts ago), as planned we stopped to draw at the magnificent cliffs of Monte Orlando, where they're called "the cracked mountain".
The weather  was gorgeous, people were even bathing at sea (mid-march!), the sun shone on the pinkish-greyish rocks and the sea was rippled. Maritime pines wore dramatic, contorted poses just like Canova's Daphne, jutting out towards the void.
Sitting on the ridge, I tackled this 20x50 cm. watercolour on Magnani "narrow" pad; quite happy with the colours, but for composition's sake I would have preferred the pine further down.

Due nuovi acquerelli di piccole cose- Two new watercolours of small things

Found on the walkway, these scales of a Picea conus were stikingly armonious, so I picked up a few of them. I then added a "cousin", the fruit of a Cupressacea I found further on.
I will add a real scale, gluing it down at the right.
It makes me think of a game between relatives.
I'm not able to identify the scientific names though...

Dove andrò a finire?

On sunday we went to meet Luciana Mangione, an artist I knew and admired through her blog; she's studied with Pedro Cano , but she's proceeding towards a poetic rarefaction of reality.
Needless to say, I caught the stimulus and set about, in the next watercolour, to be less descriptive.
On with my stylistic somersaults! Where will they end up?
